40 short films will compete to win the first prize in each competition category
The Festival has received a significant increase of submissions compared to last year’s edition. More than 1300 short films from 21 different countries: Spain, France, Belgium, Italy, Portugal to Paraguay, Colombia, Iraq, Iran, Chile, Ukraine, Cuba, Germany, Russia…
The pre-selection committee, formed by professional members from the audiovisual sector, has selected a total of 40 short films that make up this upcoming edition programme, already available.
23 short films have been selected in the International Category, from countries such as Germany, Switzerland, England, Poland, Lithuania, Belgium, Sweden, The Netherlands, Portugal and Brazil.
As for the National Category, 9 short films have been selected, many of them receiving awards in international festivals.
In the Osona Category 8 short films have been selected with a very competitive level.
A key in this year’s edition is the gender equality between the participants. In the International Category, from the 23 short films selected, 11 have been directed by women and 12 by men. In the National Category, from the 9 selected short films, 4 have been selected by women and 5 by men.
The Manlleu Film Festival wants to thank all the participants for their high quality films, they have made the selection very difficult. Regarding the rest of the programme, as the parallel activities, it will be announced in the following days.
